Affordable fashion: UNIQLO

Photography by Tom

I have been focusing this year on only purchasing a handful of investment items and filling any other wardrobe gaps with affordable pieces.  It's rather a struggle to find everything that you want in a lower price bracket without sacrificing quality.  Thankfully UNIQLO has hit Melbourne and it has been a much needed solution for me in terms of everyday tees and simple knits, perfect for mixing into casual off-duty looks.  A little heads up, definitely check out the men's department if you are wanting something simple, androgynous and slouchy, especially with the knits.  You can pick up a fine 100% wool knit for just $49.95.  You can't beat that for value.

  2. I'm trying to take the same approach to my wardrobe, mostly in the area of less frivolous spending although investment pieces have been taking the cake lately. If you're looking for some fillers, I would highly recommend Everlane. I got a few pieces from there recently and couldn't be more thrilled. The cashmere is pretty soft for the price tag (US $128) and the boyfriend sweatshirts are probably the best I've found so far.

    1. Thanks for the tip on Everlane! It's always good to have a recommendation from someone that has actually purchased some items and knows the quality. I'll check it out. I'm in desperate need of some plain but nice cashmere pieces.

    2. I second the Everlane recommendation, love their entire range! Have yet to purchase their cashmere (have wanted to ever since they started, I think it's time to take the plunge). I too have the boyfriend sweatshirt and love it!

  3. for a few glorious moments there i had a "shut up and take my money" moment when thought your jacket was from uniqlo :P

i love their stuff, the heattech range is my fave for low profile thermal wear to hide under sweaters. second (third?) the everlane recommendation too - love their leather and cashmere!
