A new direction

MiH jeans (here) / red 'Poppy' pin for Rememberance Day (11 November) / Omega Speedmaster watch (men's)

After an extended absence (you may have noticed me being a no-show in relation to personal style photographs) for a variety of reasons beyond my control.  You may have noticed me being a no-show in relation to personal style photographs on the blog lately.  I'm finally back and in the routine of things again.  I've also made some changes in relation to what will appear in posts. I aim to bring you more regularity with posts and variety, including what was originally intended to be featured.  A composite of editorials, street style, my outfits, some personally curated feature sets with what I'm currently loving from online stores, a series of what's trending and get the look, laid out/personal items and of course, what and who inspires me.  I think a mixed bag is far more interesting than simply seeing little me all the time...  Yawn!  I'm sure there will be some other content that make an appearance too like news on fashion releases, events, sales and travel.  So if you have any feedback, naturally I would welcome it.  Apart from that, stay tuned and I hope you are as excited about the new posts as I am.

Have you checked in?

Tartan, plaid basically anything with checks are on the radar as I'm sure you are well aware.  If you've managed to integrate at least one piece into an outfit you're doing well, but if you are clashing or adding at least two pieces of tartan or plaid, then aren't you the little rebel and fashion forward!  Yep that's me in your rear view having only conquered the one piece per outfit.  Don't despair though, you are definitely on trend with a little here and there (and don't forget that subtlety is a classy approach).  But the real style hardcore minxes are upping the ante.  Need some help visualising how it's done?  Here are some gals that have it down pat.

If you're a newbie to the tartan or check mix (maybe you don't know where to start), then here are some pieces that may kick start you on your way. They are easily worn a multitude of ways and after the 'trend' has been and past, you can still wear them without thinking of that time that tartan was 'a trend'.

If you more after that statement piece, well then you can't look past these.

Travel in style outfit

I'm eagerly looking forward to getting to travel early in the new year overseas and I'm already considering what to pack. This set would be my ultimate versatile mix since the items can be dressed up easily, but are just as comfortable for taking it to the streets for sightseeing in comfort.  All items are also able to be put on heavy rotation for day after day wear, only requiring a little mixing in of other items to change up the look.  Maybe a different shirt or knit and jeans. Just what I love...  Uncomplicated packing and easy mixes.

On my mind...

I have been continuing on my shoe obsession bender.  On my mind lately...  Nicholas Kirkwood's black leather cut out strappy heels which would be a perfect alternate to ankle boots and also from the same collection, the black suede prism pumps with a noticeable touch of bling.  Both are edgy and pricey enough that they keep me wanting (but not shopping).  Oh the dilemma.

Modern luxury outfit

This set would break the bank of many of us but what the heck!  I come across a wide variety of items when perusing online and not all are attainable.  Well not all of them at least... maybe one or two are a more realistic approach.  But still they are the kind of pieces that are worth featuring and together... these are my perfect luxury modern mix!  Fortunately it is still free to dream.

A great warm, luxe coat by Paul Smith in a vibrant deep pink and black mix (in an alpaca-wool blend of course) clashed against a yellow frost fur fox stole from Marni for some texture mix up and edge.  The Balenciaga Le Dix bag (my ultimate wish list item) which will keep any fashionista in vogue from now until the end of time.  An over sized black cashmere turtleneck by Donna Karen which will surely be one of the hardest working items in any wardrobe, teamed with leather trousers from Lover which have a slightly cropped length and subtle darts for the perfect fit.  Sunglasses from Celine, the most amazing diamond and opal inlaid 18ct gold feather designed ring from Carolina Bucci, and watch by Herm├Ęs.  To finish, a modernised killer pair of black suede pumps with gold chain accents which is one of the most highly coveted designs by Aquazzura.
