Re-thinking work outfits

Chinti and Parker knit / Christopher Esber dress / Celine boots (eBay buy) / Country Road tights / Proenza Schouler PS1 bag

If you follow me on instagram, you will have already noticed this outfit posted last week in what I can only describe as a lame attempt at a 'selfie' photo (in the lift mind you) on my iPhone.  I felt the outfit had been handed an extreme case of injustice with my efforts, so decided it should be a proper post. I rarely photograph work outfits. There just never seems to be the time, but these are often the most honest and highly rotated outfits that I feel compelled to include them at least every now and then.

I have to admit something. I've been in a slowly descending, lack lustre rut with my 'work' outfits for some time now.  So this outfit was part of my newly instigated plan to invigorate the said outfits.  This was my 'turn around, must apply more effort and get enthused in the working week' kick start and attitude adjustment that I have so desperately needed.  With throwing in a couple of sessions of gym in my lunch break (another new self-help, live healthy, feel better approach), it will be interesting to see how I feel by the end of the year.  Does anyone else feel a little bit uninspired through the week  (at least occasionally) or is it just me?  What do you do to combat the mid-week blues?

  1. Love the texture on that knit (and the glorious uplifting colour too), and that PS1!

    Great Ebay score ;)

  2. Great outfit, the length and the dress and the boots looks so good together. My mid week blues kick start is a face mask before work. Makes my skin tingle all day!

    1. That is such a great idea for a mid week pick me up! I'll have to try that. Thanks for the tip. I need some 'refresher' mechanisms some weeks :)

  4. That red knit is so nice! Interesting proportions too, such a lovely look :) I always find adding a bit of colour like you have with the red jumper helps me feel a bit more excited about my work outfits. My theory is, I spend most of my time in them so I have to like it, haha! Now I can have scarves and jumpers and layers (and I had a bit of a wardrobe clearout) I've actually got a few more ideas for work outfits, which is nice. Plus if all else fails, lots of pretty dresses for when I'm uninspired!

    1. Great tips Mica for adding finishing touches. Scarves can add so much to outfits. You always have gorgeous dresses. I can imagine how they would lift your spirits. I actually only own one dress at the moment! This one. I've been going through a pants phase for a few years now but coming around to being more feminine again. x

  7. I completely agree- I work in a very corporate environment so it's lots of gray and black suits. I tend not to spend money on my work clothes as it is just so uninspiring!

  14. I love that you lift your outfits with a HUGE pop of colour. I've been SO boring lately, opting for a chunky knit sweater and jeans, leather leggings or a skirt. Not so exciting, although in winter beating the mid week blues is hard. LOVE the boots by the way lovely x
