Items of sentiment

I have a very select few pieces in my home and wardrobe that are highly emotional and cherished pieces.  They carry with them a story, happy memories and a connection to someone other than myself.  They represent to me more than merely being an item. They are a little piece of history.  They are not necessarily expensive items.  A drawing from my daughter is one of my most loved pieces and it hangs with pride in my bedroom.  A handmade doll made for me by one grandmother and a spoon I used as a child that belonged to my other grandmother.  That said, in this particular instance I am talking about a purchased item.  My Omega Speedmaster watch.

This watch was a joint gift from my partner and his late father.  Within their family a watch is a significant gift that is intended to be cherished, worn and passed down to the next generation. You might even go as far to say as they form part of one's legacy.  As you can imagine, this is an item with significant sentiment and very personal to me.

I'm always interested to hear what people's most cherished items are.  I have had friends who love their engagement ring the most, others that love a trinket passed down from a previous generation or even an unrecognisable drawing by their child.  What are your most special and unforgettable items?

  3. What a beautiful watch - and the history behind it, as well as the sentiment put into purchasing it, make it so much more special. I have two pieces in my wardrobe that really mean the world to me; a vintage Chanel dress that my husband bought me and the faux fur coat that my grandma, who I never met, wore to her high school graduation. Even if they aren't always in fashion, they will always mean the world to me :)

  6. Such a lovely gift. I still treasure the watch hubby bought for me on our 10th year wedding anniversary (though I have NO idea about the mechanics inside the watch).
