Short listing the hottest loafers

After my newest acquisition (the Christian Louboutin leopard loafers) I feel like I've been through some kind of transition or personal growth in my acceptance 1) not to have to wear heels; 2) of being more adventurous and my ability to go all out with my shoes (expressing ones personality is rather fun after all); and 3) embracing what I would normally consider inside, strictly house attire footwear and taking it to the streets!

I know I've just added the leopard loafers to my wardrobe but my all out love for them has me already eyeing off an alternative. Just one more pair will suffice.  Actually... ask me after number two is 'at home' as I may feel the need to re-evaluate my position.  Loafers in all kinds of crazy ass patterns, fabrics and with unusual adornments are literally everywhere.

Since I'm on the hunt and making my own list and yes, acting to narrow it down (for my second pair), I thought I would share those that have made it on to my short list. You may notice it's not that, well... short at this time, but I'm working through it.  My favourites (I think, I keep changing my mind) are Row 1, loafers 1 and 2 (I just can't get past my hair calf and animal print love); and Row 2, loafers 2; and Row 4, loafers 3.  To be perfectly frank, I would happily wear any of these. Surprisingly so, even the blingy sensations aren't off limits which in itself was unexpected.

So what are your thoughts?  Any taking your fancy and what's your thoughts on the current loafer trend?  Are you lining up to get on board or steering clear and playing it more conservative?

  4. Actually, a few weeks ago I purchased a pair of animal printed slippers at Zara, but returned them, as I didn't like the print on second-thought. Still considering getting a pair in leopard print. I spotted a pair from this designer Charles Philip Shanghai, but just not sure yet...

    1. With print you definitely have to be 100% on them. You have those gorgeous leopard Zara sandals that I have searched high and low for. Those are brilliant! xx

  5. It's interesting that you should phrase the question as lining up to get on board or playing it more conservative. It seems to me there is hardly a more conservative shoe style than the loafer. It's a staple in men's footwear and, personally, one that I could never appreciate. However, I do appreciate the efforts to go beyond the stodgy tasseled leather loafer look to offering more colours and patterns. It's not enough for me to want to hunt down a pair or get excited about the loafer trend, but at least they offer something different.

If I had to pick a favourite among your list just from a general design standpoint, I'd pick the Valentinos or the McQueens. :)

    1. Hey Frederik, Good to hear from you again! I always appreciate your insight. I hear you on the idea of the staple men's footwear so reference to the normal stodgy tasseled leather loafer. I have to say the idea of loafers/smoking slippers being so expressive in patterns/fabrics is what is enticing me. Plus it's been ages since my feet have felt this good :) Thanks for your choices. A huge help. Trying to narrow my list is rather painful!

  6. I loooove loafers! Your leopard ones are so great but seeing all these I could imagine why you'd want another pair! I'm really into patent leather now so I might need a pair of loafers in patent leather, but the MiuMiu ones are sooo cute as well! Tough choice!

  7. I'm all for the slipper trend, and like you have been much more accepting of late to wear flat shoes which is great and means I can run around more. I'll be a little biased and say you should definitely tr get your hands on the kitty flats, I live mine, so cute to look down at hour feet and have kitties looking back at you!

  9. You've got the loafer bug! I don't think I have any, I wear a lot of ballet flats but like you, the Charlotte Olympia one is also on my wishlist :) I've been wearing more flats opposed to heels lately - I'm finding it refreshing!

  18. Funnily enough, I've decided to move from flats to heels. Lol! I was obsessed at one point and bought flats after flats after flats so now I'm trying to wear heels, one inch at a time :P I love the Valentino studded ones. They're bada$$ but still tasteful enough.

  19. I absolutely love the Charlotte Olympia kitty loafers. Too bad I don't wear any gold! Gold on my skin tone - yikes, that's a no go. But they're just soooo cute...!
