Back to basics

A nice simple post and outfit for end of week. I had a brilliant and busy week which is why I've been quieter than normal on the blogging front. I finally meet Vanisha who is the mastermind behind the blog Vanisha's life in Australia and I have to say, it's always refreshing to meet a well educated woman that is approachable, vibrant and just a pleasure to be around.   Do you believe I was so stoked to meet up I forgot the camera!  Next time...

Fast forward from the end of the working week to today.  This is what I was wearing for a relaxed weekend catch-up over brunch followed by a little bit of playful cavorting in the deserted back streets for some photographs.  Nothing glamorous or even maybe photo worthy but I figured it's better to be authentic with posts, as in they should be a true representation of life and not contrived.  Frankly some days are just well... basic.  We can't be polished and primped all the time right?

It's still cool most of the time here in Melbourne which is rather surprising for this time of year.  The weather combined with expectation of a casual day called for an over-sized draped style knit teamed with my favourite chunky scarf to cuddle the day away in.  I hope you all had an amazing weekend and are all refreshed ready to take on a new week.

it's always so nice seeing real outfits on blogs I find - as everyone wears comfy clothes! Although I can't say any of my comfy clothes look as stylish as yours do here! I think it's the stunning heels you're wearing :)

  12. how cute do you look in the first photo? i love that it's not out-there glamourous, though still glam in a way - it's nice to see everyday style that's polished and chic, i've actually been stalking your blog for a while now :)

  14. Okay, this look is right up my alley. I'm in the northern hemisphere and just about to go into a mild winter and this would be perfect, love it. So. Where did you get the pale blue sweater and the cozy grey scarf? Also, what size do you wear in the Karen Walker cocoon coat? Thanks!

    1. It's odd being opposite seasons to you guys. I read so many overseas blogs. The sweater is from 'Something Else' and was rather cheap (yay). The scarf was a rare eBay find and it's by 'Maison Scotch and Soda'. The Karen Walker coat is a size UK/Aust. 6. It's a boxy/oversized style and there was a huge difference in sizing between the 6 and 8. The 8 looked like it drowned me. I know that www.maximillia.com.au had this coat (but last season now) and www.karenwalker.com always has heaps of similar options :) xx

    2. Thanks a lot for your reply Mandi. I am now on the hunt for that sweater but can't see it online anywhere which forces me to ask if it was from a previous season and no longer available? I suffer a bit from OCD when it comes to my wardrobe ;)
I've seen the cocoon coat in mustard (also my color) on maximillia.com but the size 6 was sold out, I know the 8 would drown me too so will practice some patience on that one.
That scarf was a lucky score, I think I'm going to have to let that one go....but the sweater.....OCD!!

    3. Hey Stef, I bought it at the start of the year maybe January or February. They have an online store here http://www.something-else.com.au/collections/metamorphosis/. They are great for putting out some really basic, wearable items that are reasonably priced. I recall I paid approx $120 for the knit. The scarf was extremely lucky. My bf picked it up for me. Sweetheart that he is. Karen Walker put out really similar coats each season. In addition to Maximillia defitely keep an eye out on the actual Karen Walker site. I'll keep you posted if I see the coat or the knit anywhere :) I'm totally understanding of the OCD thing. I suffer badly too :) xx

  15. WHAT?! You forgot the camera?! LOL! In any case, despite the number of occasions the two of us caught up, we didn't even take one single photo. We'll have to make a point to take A photo (just one!) the next time I see you. I need a thicker jumper like yours. The temperature dropped suddenly this week and it's absolutely freezing.
