Growing pains

One thing about taking photographs for a blog is that you develop a thicker skin.  What would once make me cringe, blush and be embarrassed as hell at the thought of being photographed has lessened over time.  However, I'm still to get used to the by-standers that bare witness and look in utter dismay at what a random girl is doing standing in the street posing for photographs. I'm not sure that this will ever occur but I'm hoping to at least feel indifferent to this experience.  Got to soldier on though right?  For now, the quieter the spot the better.

What I'm wearing:
Isabel Marant boyfriend fit 'Ziane' jeans
Isabel Marant 'Gava' heels
Country Road tee
Saba suit jacket
Isabel Marant 'Yankees' belt
Hermes CDC bracelet

  2. I totally understand what you are saying, I am also not a big hero in posing in front of many people. So quiet spots for me as well!
Really like what you are wearing, those Isabel Marant boyfriend pants fit so nicely! XO

  4. I know exactly how you feel, Mandi! I HATE being watched when I'm doing 'outfit photographs', I feel ridiculous. Which is why I mainly stick to my roof terrace - if only I could get over my fear so I can have a little variation in my locations.

Love the outfit by the way! I shoulda bought those heels. Regret.

  7. You look amazing! Love the blazer and heels with the jeans and a tee, and that CDC bracelet...I'm drooling!

I find over time you get used to people being there when you take photos - we've had to wait for people to walk past, unintentionally held people up and had to stop to let them past...makes for some funny faces as you can see how uncomfortable I am but we still get photos in the end. :) Like you I try to seek out quieter places to avoid embarrassment.

  10. Such a great outfit, Mandi! Hear! Hear! I just can't pose and so far, I haven't developed a thick enough skin to model any clothes. I actually saw a European young lady in her glamorous do right in front of a busy street on Marylebone with her boyfriend snapping her away using an expensive camera equipment. I'm pretty sure it's for a blog.

    1. Ha ha... you will get there is you choose to. It is rather confronting I must say. When I see the glamorous girls I always think blog or model too. I think in London etc it's expected but maybe not so much in Richmond Melbourne :)

  12. Yeah it's true, I totally shy away from taking photos around people. I love seeing people in the background of blogger's photos, but I feel really self-conscious when ppl walk by and of course watch your every pose. Really, you've come a long way though, and I always get excited to see your outfit posts now with all of you in the frame!

  18. Hey Mandi :)
I am totally shy of posing for pics and my poor hubby as to put up with me constantly moving when someone walks pass. It is also extremely hard to find a "quiet" spot I feel like there's people everywhere, all the time. I hope with time it would get better!
