Wearable western

I love a tad bit of western influence but lets be fair, for the majority of us it's quite difficult to pull off without giving off the vibe that you're trying to relive a childhood fantasy and simply playing dress-up.

Whilst undertaking my regular blog updates on Carolines Mode I came upon these images.  Styled by Caroline Blomst herself and photographed by Daniel Troyse, they are the perfect balance of how to integrate western in to an everyday look without being consumed by the 'theme'. I personally loved how the styling is rather relaxed and neutral and the western is introduced more in the terms of one or two simplistic and understated accessories (for example, a bag here, a studded belt or fringed vest there).  This is brilliant namely for the reason that as your love for the wild wild west lessons (which undoubtedly it will), you won't be burdened with items that are too much of a 'statement' and that can't be mused into other styles (bohemian first springs to my mind).  After all waste not, want not.

Caroline is brilliant at creating 'wearable' looks.  For those of you that already follow her you will have noticed that in her own looks, she never strays from what can only be referred to as her 'uniform'.  I must say I really admire her for the integrity of what she delivers in her day to day looks in that they are always fashionable, yet purposeful at the same time.

  4. Beautiful outfits! I really like that first one. It's all in the confidence and way you carry yourself isn't it? I could wear a grey singlet and denim shorts and wouldn't feel even half as stylish as she looks!
