Mulberry Campaign: A Forest Fairytale

I tend to bang on about brands I love a little and Mulberry is one that firmly sits within that realm.  Mulberry is one of the brands that I've watched carefully over the past few years and have enjoyed seeing the brand evolve, not just in what it designs and produces, but also the campaigns, runway shows and events.  Mulberry has become a force, yet again, to be reckoned with and with its latest campaign it shows no signs of loosing steam.

Titled "A Forest Fairytale" the beautiful and evocative series of images (shot by renowned British photographer Tim Walker) reminds me of "Where the Wild Things Are" but maybe that's due to the freshness in my mind of later. Mulberry describes the Autumn/Winter 2012 campaign as a story play on the romance and darkness of children’s fairy tales, inspired by Creative Director Emma Hill’s visions of explorers, mysterious stories and fantasy travels.  The casting of model Lindsey Wixson  (in her third campaign for Mulberry) couldn't be more perfect. Lindsey has this presumed innocence which whilst showcasing the fashion aspect of the shoot, she also manages to captivate you and make you feel like you want to follow her into the deeps woods to come face to face with the giant furry forest creatures.  She's absolutely believable in character, not just a model inputted into a scene.

Now for the campaign...

The behind the scenes details:  Mulberry Autumn Winter 2012 campaign was shot on location on Blackheath Common, Surrey, in the UK by renowned photographer Tim Walker.  Hair styling by Sam McKnight, Makeup by Val Garland and Andy Hillman's team who were the prop positioning masterminds.

Below are a few images that just couldn't be excluded, taken by Mulberry of behind the scenes whilst capturing its latest campaign.  I think it's rather nice to see these as well to truly appreciate the level of work and dedication (and hours) that goes into producing the final six still images.  Although I'm sure it's exhausting, from a career point of view and even a self-fulling aspect, what a project to be involved in!

  6. I hope they follow through with some amazing displays in their windows with this theme. Some lovely big monster plush characters in the window would be excellent and no doubt I will ask if they're are any going free for my boys and they will say they are "accounted" for. I love Mulberry. The orange camera bag has definitely caught my eye.

  17. This campaign is totally magical! I'm such a fan of Tim Walker's work and he did an incredible job of channeling "Where the Wild Things Are". I love the behind the scenes since I used to be a photo production manager and you never know how much work can go into just one shot. And don't even get me started on how beautiful Mulberry bags are :)

Hope you're having a great week!
