MSFW

I had a little rock star influence today with the ripped jeans and tee but thought since I'm no-longer a teenager (or within the 20's age bracket... past that too), it really need a touch of class. So I added a tailored jacket and lady-like pumps.  I think the look ended up being more age appropriate and wearable rather than looking like I should be front and centre in a mosh pit somewhere.

I was just kicking around in the city today, catching up on what's new in some of the boutiques.  The most exciting aspect of the day was sorting my tickets for Melbourne Spring Fashion Week (MSFW) which is to be held in September.  I'm rather excited about the entire week, but exceptionally keen to catch the first glimpse of the new collections on the runway.  The city really has a vibe in fashion week and the installations and displays are well worth taking a stroll to see.  Also not to missed is all the free action from the public runways and the style bars and masterclasses that will teach you the secrets of how to create the looks yourself located in City Square.  I can feel I will be needing to take some annual leave for all of this. I'm just wanting to get in the mix of things and soak up the atmosphere.

It's the first time I have attended the runway shows so I have huge expectations from what is up-coming from some of my favourite home grown designers. The line up for the runway show 'Designer series 1' (worth a special mention) will be showcasing Aureilio Costarella, Christine, Ellery, Gwendolynne, Lui Hon, Maticevski, Michael Lo Sordo and Scanlan & Theodore with Peter Simon Phillips at the stylist.  There are obviously far more designers and shows during the event but for me, this is the line up I would have fought endlessly to attend. For any of you that are based or visiting Melbourne during Melbourne Spring Fashion week, be sure to put on your best brights or pastels (after all it is spring fashion week).  Tickets are still available from Ticketek or you can get all the details of what's on the program directly from the MSFW site.

Come September I'm hoping to bring you some runway shots (cross fingers that the photograph opportunities and of course the lighting go my way) so I can share all the latest news.  Naturally if any of you are around for the frivolities and would like to catch up, just drop me an email to findmeamuse@gmail.com.  I'd love to meet you and what better excuse than the best girly (fashion) week of the season to do it!

What I'm wearing:
Carven cut-away blazer (available HERE)
Truth or Dare tee
Balmain distressed boyfriend jeans
Balmain embossed leather and aged hardware belt (available HERE)
Isabel Marant Poppy suede pumps (similar HERE or HERE)

Below are a few of my favourite distressed jeans that are around at the moment and all of them are nice and affordable. In addition to the natural worn finish of the denim and distressing, I love the cropped length (making them perfect for rolling up) and slightly baggy fit. There's enough room in them to give you comfort and style, but without sacrificing the fit and making you look like you've stolen your partner's jeans which are three sizes too big.

    1. I'm pretty pumped. It's great though because anyone can buy tickets which is what I love. It makes going so attainable. I've been loving your outfits Kayin! So jealous of your weather. Oh... I have to blame you for my recent purchase :) The Chloe Susan boots! I kept looking at your posts and it was the deciding factor!

    1. I always find these types of tees in mens funky/rocker style stores. This is a mens tee (all of mine are) and I just buy a size XS or S and they work fine. Best thing is the quality is great, there is a much larger range of tees and they are far far cheaper than female ones which when you can fine them are really pricey. This one cost me $30. I hope that helps :)

  8. Hi Mandi -

Here I am with another question for you about fit! I very much want a Balmain belt but would have to order one online (no opportunity to try one on). What size do you wear (if you don't mind me asking)? Do you find that they fit small? I fear that their largest size might still be too small for me to wear with my boyfriend style jeans. I wear a 31 or 32 jeans (US sizing, that is). I saw this belt that you are wearngg in these pictures online and they had a size 42 but I wondered if that would work?

    1. Hey Emma,

No problem at all. I'm happy to help. I have some Balmain belts in size 36 and the one I'm wearing is size 38. It is worn on the tightest hole and still a tad loose on me and I can only wear it on the hips. I find the belts fit true to size.

I am a FR 36 in Balmain jeans also (and a 25/26 in jeans depending on the brand and cut and the fit I want).

I think the 42 would work for you personally. If you have any more questions I'm happy to help :) Let me know how you go xx
