Josh Goot

So let's start by a quick mention of two of my favourite muses, Christine Centenera (Senior Fashion Editor of Vogue, Australia) and Taylor Tomasi Hill (Artistic Director of Moda Operandi).  These two names, faces and their impeccable style will be nothing that you haven't come across before, probably hundreds if not thousands of times. These two ladies are both somewhat considered grand masters in fashion circles.  So I'm going to leave any discussion about the hype of these ladies since I'm sure you already have a well formed opinion and insight into their credibility.  Instead I would like to focus on what these two have had in common especially of late.  Naturally we are talking fashion.  Not just any fashion but Australian fashion. Josh Goot to be precise of whom I'm a devoted fan.

Josh Goot's name generates so much hype in Australia (he's somewhat of a local hero with a loyal following) and he has a massive and ever-growing rising status overseas, deservedly so. Josh Goot designs are acclaimed for their modern and clean, yet elegant aesthetics.  The up-coming and soon to be released S/S 2012 collection  is one of my personal favourites by far (and I've had a few).  This season sees the continuation of Josh Goot's exquisite tailoring and embraces structure in its purist form with ladylike and functional pieces that are nothing short of statement attire.

Images 1 (Taylor - the floral vest and black corset are Josh Goot), 2 and 3 (Christine - flower bomb corset in both and the symmetrical cut away skirt also in 3) are all designs from the upcoming collection which is due to hit the boutiques come September.  The structure and design of the corset had me speechless from the moment I laid eyes on it. I wouldn't be surprised if this corset is one of the hottest items from the collection, especially considering Taylor has also sported it recently.  The good news for any of you that have already started your Josh Goot wish list is that Maximillia has this collection available for pre-order.

Below shows just what the S/S 2012 collection is set to deliver.  The collection is best described as structural, semi sports luxe which features colour blocking and floral decoration in terms of roses, orchids and lilies on some of the signature pieces.  I particularly love the pieces that embrace the fit of the moment, peplum and asymmetrical statement-shapes, especially the skirts.  Be sure to keep a look out for the over sized vests and bomber jackets too since they are absolutely drool worthy.

Also worth a look is Josh Goot's Resort 2013 collection which is one of the current trunk shows on Moda Operandi.  Items are available for pre-order only whilst the trunk show remains active which is until 11 pm, July 27.  The Resort collection also includes the signature 'Reptile form racer back dress' (below) which Christine recently wore at  Haute Couture in Paris.  Oh to have access to the Christine's or Taylor's wardrobes!

    1. Absolutely. As much as I love Josh Goot's designs, Christine brings that little bit extra to the table.

  9. Hi Mandi, I'm in love with Josh Goot, the only problem for me is the sizing, I find that the small still runs a bit too big for me and getting those beautiful clothes altered just seems criminal to me. And some of them are difficult to alter because of the fabric and the design. I'd consider putting on more weight just to fit into his clothes! xoxox

    1. You are absolutely right. To alter something that is structured with a print really doesn't do it justice and there is always that risk factor that the shape and how the garment falls will alter. I grinned with the add weight = Josh Goot's clothes being wearable for you :) Maybe this season will fit you better? Who knows xx
