Justified: First in

Don't you just love sale time?  I always have a list of items that I would love to have but can't justify due to being realistic with spending. I generally cut myself some slack with the theory of If these wish list items make it to sale and are reasonably priced, then I can pick up a few.  I always seem to have a bag or two on my list because those are such big buys that even a 20% saving works out to be a substantial saving, but when you get up to 50%, well... it's like you hit the jackpot... Cha-ching!  There's nothing like a discount to justify a purchase.

Sales are the time I take the most risks with my purchases.  I have this thing about paying too much for items that aren't necessarily classic or items I'm not necessarily 100% sold on.  Longevity I can justify a price tag for.  These Alexander Wang Chloe's are quite funked up, sporty (even moto-esque) and a complex combination of textures, so I questioned whether they would still be on a regular wardrobe rotation in five years time.  As soon as they arrived I knew they would be and had me questioning how I ever doubted it.  The 40% off didn't hurt either.

Finally a pair of heels I can wear with casual items (when I prefer a little added height) and as a substitute to my much loved Isabel Marant sneakers.  Variety is the spice of life after all and women need shoes... and handbags...  My weaknesses have been exposed.

These shoes are the first of my sales buys to arrive so I'm eager for the next few parcels since these have turned out to be such a success.  How is everyone else's sales purchases going?  I've heard from quite a few ladies that they have been reserved and 'good' since fall is just around the corner.  I have aspirations to move past the sales (I really do) to get ready for the fabulous fall collections, but there seems to be a multitude of items at discounted prices (that were on my wish list), it's difficult to shift focus.  This week though, I'm going to make an effort to scout the up-coming collections.

Action shots will surely follow shortly.  I'm even going to brave the winter chill to take these babies out ASAP.  It's funny how a new buy can make you want to wear something that's totally inappropriate for the weather.  Others do this too right?

  1. Wow those are really interesting shoes! :) Can't wait to see how you style them they will make perfect weekend wear!

I've done very well in the sales - snapped up a couple of bags and a scarf, all very sensible purchases that were on my wishlist, like you :) I think it's the best way to be sure you will still love your sale purchases!

thanks for the tip about the mulberry.com sale - although wow the prices are still so expensive! :( I got my last bays for a lot cheaper. I managed to snag an Alexa I'd been stalking for months at reebonz so no more bags in the sales for me! :(

  2. It sound like you did well in the sales. Good work on keeping your head and being sensible with purchases. I'll have to check out reebonz. I hadn't heard of them before. You have an amazing collection of bags anyway :) xx

  3. Wow! Amazing shoes! Can't wait to see what else you've scored during sales. I've been good until now, only bought a IM blazer that I was eyeing. I still have a few things that I have on my wishlist for quite some time that are now on sale, but still doubting if I should get them now or wait for a second markdown. It's all so tempting, grrr... xx Kayin

    2. I look forward to seeing your new goodies. It's just that I have spend way too much earlier this year, otherwise I would have bought a lot more during sales already. :) xx

  4. I love these shoes. Great purchase. Can't wait to see some looks with them.
I've been behaving this sales season. I've bought an IM haca jacket and a crochet dress, and I think that will be it. The thing is the weather is so miserable, cold and rainy here in the uk that it doesn't really make sense to buy any more summer clothes. Plus, I've already seen some New season stuff (from Isabel marant mainly) that I'd rather buy... Xx

    1. You sound like you're being sensible with your purchases and planning to save for new season. You're right I think. I mean the UK is pretty cool most times so better to invest in Fall/Winter collections. I hope you get some sun though. You managed to get two great buys from the sales though. xx

My IM Merry sandals arrived! I had some doubts about whether the blue/green colour would work as a neutral but I really think it will. And I will be wearing them for a short break in Cannes in a couple of weeks as I can't be sure with the English weather if I'll be wearing them here at all this summer... Really should be looking at sale raincoats and waterproof boots instead...

I wish I could wear the higher shoes you pick Mandie but I'm too old I think and relegated to flats these days, but nice to see how you wear them and glad that Isabel Marant does some funky flats for us oldies.

    1. I'm so glad to hear your Merry sandals arrived. I still have them on my list! The blue/green is gorgeous too and it's nice to have a different colour. Um... Cannes?! I'm even excited for you! How fantastic. Enjoy (like that needs to be said).

On the flats note, I've started converting to a few flats. I've been particulary bad in the past as in I don't own many flats but I'm getting there. I'll be sure to feature some soon. xx

  12. Great shoes! I always wait for Alexander Wang to go on sale...I can never justify his prices, and you scored an awesome deal. Can't wait to see you strutting them out & about! I THINK I've been good this sale season...kind of? I've just bought 2 IM pieces: the Pepal pants and Dora sweatshirt...trying to resist everything else by not even checking the usual websites (got to remember the amount I've spent already on her sneakers!). Looking forward to see what else you've managed to grab!
