The long wait finally ends: Celine Mini Luggage

I have dreamt of owing this bag for so long.  I don't have a bottomless pit of funds to dip into every time a pretty new fashion item takes my fancy and in a way, I actually feel a lot better for it.  It makes holding this beauty in my hands all the better.

By having to save and save hard for my Celine, I've learnt a little more about myself and my consumerism.  I developed a little more self control in the spending department, fallen off the wagon occasionally with some frivolous purchases and learnt to appreciate my hard earned dollar.

I've also learnt a valuable lesson from this.  FOCUS!!!  Don't let other pretty trinkets or new items (and sales) distract my attention away from the end goal.  Commitment will inevitably result in the covetable wish list item being in my closet.  Since I have the attention span of a pea when it comes to fashion and shopping, staying focused was a challenge.  Please tell me I'm not the only one that struggles with this...  As you can see, thankfully, I got there in the end.

  1. It's a stunning piece, definitely an item worth the wait and restraint of saving up for! I'm trying to train myself to be more disciplined too, whether I will accomplish it is another matter! ;)

    Enjoy your new bag!

    1. Thanks Naomi. I wish you the best of luck with working on your discipline. It's so difficult these days with so many gorgeous items to buy.. places to go...

  2. I totally know what you mean Mandi! I've been trying to shop in my own closet more, but I find it's hard when I want a popular piece that I know is going to sell out quickly. I think it's awesome that you held out and got a bag that is gorgeous, timeless, and you'll have forever. :)

    1. The popular pieces are the biggest challenges and I always cave for them. The fear of missing out and all :) I'm happy to say I'm totally in love with the bag which makes all the sacrifice and scrimping worth it :)

  3. Beautiful, beautiful bag! I have the same one and haven't used it yet because I like it so much (makes NO sense). I totally struggle with impulse shopping or having a goal and then breaking it, and I need to get better! I think I started using my blog as an excuse to shop more, but I admire you for keeping control and I'm going to try to do that too! - Aliya :)

    1. I normally do exactly as you do and 'baby' new items. They are just too special to wear or potentially get marked. I figured I would start using the Celine every day to break my habit. Re the blog/shopping excuse, I've done that too but I'm trying really hard to keep it in check (a recent thing) since it was costing me far too much money. At least we recongise our weakness :)

  4. YAY, Mandi! Go, Mandi! Go, Mandi! Go, Mandi! I'm so pleased that you finally got the long awaited Celine Mini Luggage tote. It's the perfect bag for you. It's classy, edgy and the perfect alternative to (if not better than) the Birkin (shh.....).

  5. Gorgeous bag, congrats on getting one! I really like them, they are just so lady-like. Definitely an investment purchase well worth saving up for :)

I find accessories easier to save up for and justify higher costs for, as you wear them so often. Clothes not so much. But bags, and a classic one like this, will last a long long time.

  6. I love it Mandi! So classic and chic. I'm TERRIBLE at staying focused on an investment piece - I always, always end up spending the money I've saved on something pink/fluffy/impractical that 'I need now'. I need to learn self-control. x

  7. Congrats with this beautiful bag! I can really relate. I also find it hard to be disciplined when it comes to buying things and also find myself using my blog as an excuse to purchase new items. Especially the popular items that sell out quickly. I guess it is a learning process for me. At least I really appreciate these expensive items and treat them with a lot of tlc. :)

Anyway, enjoy your new bag in good health! It's a great investment piece! :)

  8. Yes, I have the same problem...especially if an item is selling out. And why does something fairly similar to something I have look SO much better at an on-line store? Well, now that I too have my mini-luggage I must do better! Except that it needs new clothes to do it justice..

  12. Love this bag! How do you keep it in shape?? What insert do you use if you don't mind me asking? :)

    1. The bag is lovely and keeps its shape all by itself. I've only had it for a little while, but I use it pretty much on a daily basis so I don't use and insert. I've been told the later models of the Celine's hold their shape far better and don't go slouchy. Mine is the 2012 model so all should be ok. I haven't had any trouble with it. I hope that helps :)

  13. Yes thanks! Yes mine is from earlier seasons. I'm still trying to find a stiff insert. :) like you, I also love mine to death... It's anthracite! :)

  14. What you write is so true... it's amazing how a trinket there and a cheap top here soon add up to some serious money. The bag is beautiful by the way, a real classic that you will enjoy for a long time to come.
