Casual Friday

Many of you will know I'm particularly camera shy. It's something I'm working on bit by bit.  Since Tom has now arrived home (aka my photographer), it seems I no longer have an excuse for not 'appearing' in photo's and personalising the blog (at least a little).

Friday night we hit Federation Square for a bite to eat and to take in some of the comedy festivals street performers and soak up the atmosphere.  Melbourne is always buzzing Friday nights between dining out, the 'what's on' in the entertainment world and the crowds that do the pilgrimage to whatever sporting event that happens to be on (AFL season seems to bring out the most fanatics).

We were simply content to stroll, watch the world go by and enjoy some great company.  I had been at work all day and fortunately as you can see, we have a very lenient dress code for Friday (in an office environment).  'Casual Friday' makes for a nice change.  It's the only day of the working week that I'm able to be supremely comfortable all day long and by choice, am not too dressy or preened, and make-up is kept minimal and natural.  I feel happiest when I'm able to dress to reflect my mood rather than what I should or have to wear.

I've been meaning to feature these jeans for some time now.  Even though they are quite trashed and a tad over sized, they are one of the most comfortable pairs I own and my go to for true laid back style.  They work really well for a more relaxed, dischevelled look but equally so with a tailored jacket and classic heels.

Somebody Else slouchy knit

  7. I understand your camera shyness. I don't particularly like taking photographs of myself for my blog either, but it does help add that "personal touch."

And since you're very photogenic, I think your blog will benefit very nicely. Case in point: it's a lot easier to figure out how the shoes wear when they're actually being worn, and they look great on you! Very striking! They add structural interest to your ensemble and offer a nice contrast to the laid-back look of of your top and jeans. Result: understated but chic, comfortable but stylish. Tres chic, indeed.:)

    1. You are definitely right. Blogs are better some what with a personal element. It's a challenge originally though as it feels like 'self promotion' kind of which is a bit un-natural. Baby steps... Thanks for the support and encouragement though I really appreciate it. I must admit, I do like an understated look. Maybe it's as I get a little older there seems to be less times where I go for a full on 'look at me' outfit and feel that what I wear represents my personality more. It's a nice feeling.

    2. I understand what you mean by that unnatural "self promotion" feeling. I'm rather prone to that, which is why I don't tend to do the what-I'm-wearing-today kind of blog that seems so popular. It's just a question of finding a balance that works for you. I'd say you're on the right track, because you start from a cautious foundation, unlike other bloggers who love the camera so much each post consists of about forty pictures of the same outfit. So, good luck. It'll all come together. :)

    3. Great advice about finding balance. I think you're right though. Being cautious and remaining true to how I feel about it all is really the key. It's great to enjoy blogging rather than feel uncomfortable or like one is selling out for the sake of gaining an audience.

    1. Hi June, Ah... photo's are deceiving and only put up from the best angles :) You're too kind though. The woody's are actually more comfortable than I thought but are around the 4.5" height mark so best for people that don't mind a steep heel.

Love the shoes!! Are they true to size? I want to be prepared if they happen to show up on Ebay, so I can snatch them up. I am familiar with IM sizes if you can compare them to the fit of other pairs you own. I speak "IM" fluently :)

    1. Hi Stephanie, I'm a size 36 in all IM shoes and I would say they fit the same as my other IM shoes. I would take your normal IM size :)
