Trendspotting: Floral bags at Givenchy

Personally, I'm someone that is not a girly girl. I find wearing florals challenging as the delicacy of florals just don't tend to mesh with my personality.  The difficulty is, I tend to find them quite alluring, feminine and often glamorous especially since florals for fashion are normally done in a soft and floaty fabric, such as a smooth silk.  So still staying true to my style and being realistic with what I will wear, I found an alternative.  The range of floral print satin bags by Givenchy.

The floral print by Givenchy was little unexpected, but for me, Givenchy still has that rocker edge and un-spoken attitude that can toughen up even a floral bag.  These bags are definitely not your everyday bag which is exactly what I happen to like about them.  Inspired by the colour themes and motifs of Ricardo Tisci’s F/W11 collection, these bags look spectacular.  Framed with the ribbon-thin lines and scrolls of fern like leaves, with some featuring the black leopards which were a key design of the current collection, and a variety of florals.

My favourite of the collection is the more simple of the bags, the purple and black Iris clutch with detailing in yellow and the camouflaged black panthers (4th bag down from the top).  I'm particularly into mixing patterns and fabrics this season, so I would wear this clutch with a pair of zebra (black and white) pony-hair stilettos for a killer contrast and risk taking look.  The clutch would look equally glamorous teamed with a perfect little black dress or summer frock.  I'm normally a person that is more into a luxe leather bag like the Celine Mini Luggage (my dream bag right now), but for a fun and flirty bag for a night out I would definitely happily carry the Iris clutch.

For anyone searching for these beauties, they are starting to get hard to come by since the stores have commenced their sales, but the bonus is you will most likely be able to pick one up cheaper than full retail.  Below are a few stockists that still have some versions of these bags left in store.  The list is not exhaustive, just a starter for those of you who are interested.
