My new purchase: Isabel Marant Willow sneakers

Shopping in London yesterday can officially be considered a success! Talk about timing.  Selfridges had just put out, that very morning, the new Isabel Marant Cruise collection shoes. I managed to pick up a pair of the new Willow hi-top sneakers in anthracite/bordeaux (the official style colour name).  Needless to say I'm overjoyed beyond words to have found these.  Originally I was hesitant about the multi-coloured versions of these sneakers but in real life, these sneakers absolutely rock!  The suede texture and quality of these sneakers is absolutely lush.  These are going to be my quintessential summer sneaker.

In the time it took me to try the Willow's on (a matter of minutes), complete with a little to and fro in front of the mirror in admiration of the style, some four other ladies had set their sights on the sneakers and were vying for the sales assistants attention, attempting to get their size.  These will surely be hot property for any Isabel Marant fan.

In terms of the other Cruise collection shoes, Selfridges had on the floor the white Bobby sneakers, another version of the multi-coloured Willow sneakers, the Dicker boots in anthracite and also honey, and the Handy leather platform buckled sandals with the wooden wedge. All of the shoes were equally impressive. They are all so different, it is easy to justify having one of each.  One can only hope!

Just a note, I do allow my photographs to be used by third parties, however if you are going to reproduce, copy or use the photographs below, do not alter them in any way (this includes cropping the photographs or erasing my website address).  Alternation to the photographs is not permitted.

  1. Woohooo! I can imagine your face when you spotted this beauty! I guess I'm just going to have to admire yours until Ms Marant (are you listening to this??!!) decides that there are women out there that have smaller feet.

  2. SO JEALOUS! They're really gorgeous. It's so ridiculous to me that I never ever imagined myself to be the type that's really into sneakers... but Isabel just nailed it completely. Congrats on your purchase!!

  3. Hi Chocolate, cookies and candies. I was so hyped up when I saw all the shoes. I literally wish I had all of them. I'm really hoping IM starts making one size smaller for you too.

Hi Balkis. Congratulations on getting the ecru Willows! They are gorgeous! Let me know when you have them. I'm dying for a look. I was the same with the sneakers originally too but I'm converted now.

    great purchase!

do you think these are true to size?
    thanks!
    have a nice day!

  12. Yes my Willows are definitely true to size. I take the same size in them as all of the last seasons shoes and they fit the same.

  13. I'm getting the exact same pair delivered in a week! I heard that the IM Bekkett's run small so while i'm usually a size 38 I ordered a size 39...we shall see if that turns out to be accurate! Mine are also the Anthracite/Burgundy combo...can't wait! Your photos of 'em are fab!

  16. There are I think six colour combinations. Here is the link to one of my posts containing the five of them in there.

    http://www.findmeamuse.com/2011/11/update-on-who-is-stocking-isabel-marant.html

The sixth colour is the black/white version. These are currently on La Garconne and www.espejto.it (you have to sign in as a member to see them on Espejto).

Hi Mandi, first time here and my IM willow will be my first IM as well. I'm confused about sizing. I'm 39 Eu/IT 8.5 US, narrow feet. What size would you suggest? Thanks. Loooove the pics btw. The best one the net! :)

  18. Hi Ana, thanks for stopping by and I hope my photos have encouraged you. The IM sneakers are amazing. Personally I think you would be a size 39 (because you are an 8.5 US). I'm a standard size US 6 and I take the size 36. If I were any larger (for example a 6.5 US) I would go up to the 37. I think you will need the size 39 for the length. Let me know how you go

Hi Mandi, thanks for info. Now comes the hardest part - find them on the net!!! If you come by any other (except the known one) site just let all of us know. I contacted espejto.it. They got the beige and black t. 36 and 38 left.

    Hi Mandi,
I'm a huge IM fan - as you - and really like your blog :-).. I could do with some help when it comes to sizing of the sneakers, as there seems to be different opinions on whether they run small or true to size - and I can see that you have both the Becketts, the Bettys and the Willows ;-).. I am usually a size 36 (IT) and have tried on the Becketts earlier where I found that a IM size 37 fits me. (I'm a IM size 36 in Dickers, IM 37 in Manly and IM 36 in Mony boots). However, when it comes to the Willows, several webshops say that they fit more true-to-size than the Becketts. So now I'm a bit confused; should I go for IM size 37 (as the Becketts) or a IM size 36...? Would really appreacite your help. Have a great day.
    Regards,
    Berit

  21. Hi Berit,

Thanks so much for the feedback. It's really nice of you to say.

The sizing is always a difficult topic. I'm a 36 in the Dickers, Gava heels, Dana boots (all of these three run a little bit large on me but I can get away with them due to being boots or having straps). The Gatsby and Poppy pumps are too large for me in a 36 (they slip). I haven't tried on the Manly or Mony boots unfortunately. I take a size 36 in the Bobby/Betty sneakers, the Bekkets and the Willows. I found the Bekkets to be a good fit lengthways for me and a little snug width wise. The Betty/Bobbys are the same length ways but a little bit wider so more comfortable for my foot (I have a standard width foot).

With the Willows for yourself, I would say go for the size 37 since I believe they run very similar to the Bekkets. I think the size 36 will be too small for you length ways. It sounds to me that you have a slightly longer foot than me and I only just fit my Willows (firm but not too tight) so I think the 36 would be too small for you. I really hope that helps.

Let me know how you go

    xx

    Hi Mandi,
Thanks for your feedback; I will go for the 37 then. Still not sure though whether to go for the black Becketts (have found a pair from AW11) or the black Bettys.. Have tried on both in Paris (wrong colors though), but not sure which ones to choose. On the one hand, the Becketts are just more special (and sounds as the best fit for me as I have a rather slim foot), but on the other hand they may be a bit "too much", if you know what I mean.. The Bettys are also really cool and versatile and maybe more wearable..? As you have both models - and if you had to choose - which ones would you go for..? Can of course buy both, but knowing that there are plenty of new IM stuff waiting for me out there ;-), I should probably just go for one of them. Also, do you know if there will be other IM boots for spring/summer (apart from Dickers, Jennys,...).. Heard that there may be a couple of other longer models, one of them with a bit of slouchy leg, men not sure whether this is true (haven't seen any of them yet)..
    Have a fantastic day :-)

    Hi Mandi,
Wrote you a message earlier, but it doesn't seem to get through. I'll try again ;-).. Thanks for the feedback; I will go for a size 37 then. However, I still need to decide whether to go for the black Becketts (have found a pair from AW11) or the black Bettys; find it so difficult to decide which ones to choose. On the one hand, the Becketts seems more special and fit-wise sounds good for me, as I have a rather slim foot - on the other hand, they may be a bit "too much", if you know what I mean.. The Bettys are also really cool and versatile - and perhaps more wearable..? But maybe not as special as the Becketts. So if you should go for only one of them(having both models), which ones would you choose? Is one more comfortable than the other; is one better with bare legs/dress, ....? Could of course buy both, but as there is plenty of IM stuff out there waiting for me ;-), guess I will have to buy only one.. Do you by any chance know if there are other IM boots for spring/summer (apart from Dicker, Jenny,..); have heard that there should a couple of longer models, one of them with a slouchy leg, but haven't seen any of them.
    Have a great day.

  24. Hi Berit,

Sorry for the late reply. Tough one... If I had to choose one IM sneaker. I would have to say the Bekkets/Willows. I originally was in a similar mind set to you, thinking they may be too much for me, but from the moment I got used to wearing them and styling them, I rarely take them off. I personally think the Bekket/Willows go with more. They can look a bit more dressed up as well.

Don't get me wrong I love the Bobby/Betty sneaker to, but the Bekkets/Willows just have that something extra.

Just a heads up, the black Bekket has been released twice now. The first release had a black canvas type of fabric, but the latest release (Winter 2011) is the black suede and leather combination and far nicer (in my opinion). Also if you are going for an ebay buy, just be careful as there have been some fakes on there.

Regarding the boots and other IM shoes that are coming out, if you want to post another message to my blog with your email addy (I won't publish it), I'll email you directly. It's too long for a post reply :)

  26. Hi Marianne, You're so sweet! Thanks for coming back and dropping me all the lovely comments.

I am very lucky living in Australia as we get the VAT removed from the price which is about 20% which makes a significant difference to the price. Still expensive though.

I've seen the Adidas ones. They look great! Let me know if you get them. They would be ultra comfy and stylish walking shoes. xx

  30. Hi zeynep. Ooh... London! Nice. I miss London! Ok.. back to the question. If you're in London, try Selfridges. I know that they received the black/white combination coloured Willows late last week. www.lagarconne.com has the all white version. As for the coloured ones, I don't know of anywhere now that has them. I'll be sure to post as soon as I do. www.morganclare.co.uk got different coloured combo's in late last week, but I believe they are all gone. Would be worth checking though. Other than that, I would call the IM store in Paris as they would probably be your best bet. I hope you find some. They are amazing! xx

    1. Hi Kelly, Um... now it's getting really difficult to find them anywhere. You could try contacting Diani boutique. Paste this into your browser http://www.dianiboutique.com and go to the contacts section. You may have luck there. If I hear of anywhere I'll let you know. Sorry I'm not much help now it's just that most stores (well the ones I know of) have all sold out.

    Hi!

I am desperately looking for a size 36 in one of the monochrome colors (white/black/beige/navy)

Do you know where i can find a pair?

I have considered buying a size 37 from ebay but I am really scared they will be too big..

    Please help!

    1. Hi Tessa,

Unfortunately I don't know anywhere that has them anymore. I think that most stores have already received the stock and have sold out. You could try phoning an Isabel Marant store. That may find you a pair. Alternatively, I would wait. If you really need the size 36, a pair will come up sooner or later on eBay. It's better to get the right size than to pay that amount and get a pair that doesn't fit.

I will of course let you know if I hear of any of the black/white pairs in a size 36. Sorry I wish I could be more help

    Hi
I got a beautiful pair of IM Becketts in Anthacite for by birthday from my boyfriend in my usual size 39. But when I tried them on, horror!!, they were sooo small!!
My big toe is slightly long, so on closed shoes I sometimes have to go for a larger size, but I always try to keep a 39 if possible since I see my feet very big with a 40. But in this case what I felt with the 39 was that my feet were looking too small. The 40s feel only slightly loose at the back, but they are really comfy, while I could tell that the 39s were going to give me a hard time with no guarantee that they would adapt in the future, and that is a risk you can take with a pair of Nike´s from the sales, but definitively not on a 425 euros pair of sneakers.
That is the advise I can give, hope it helps, anyone like me?

    Hi Mandi!
Thank you for the great review and for all the comments you've collected. They helped me to realize that I probably need to go size up with IM Becketts((
I am usually solid european 36 with medium to narrow feet. But reading all the comments I gathered that IM sz36 would be too small for me.
    Do you also think so?

    thank you!!!!

    1. Hi Luda, I'm a US size 6 and I got the size 36. They were really fitted to begin with but have stretched and are perfect now. I had tried the size 37 on and they were too large. The reason most people size up is the Bekkets are narrow but if you have a narrow foot I believe you should be fine with you. I have a medium foot and mine stretched in the width which is where I needed it xx

    Hi,
    Quick question:
I notice the wedge height varies between 2" and 3.5". Does it depend on model/style/colour/season?
I prefer lower but don't really know how to search for them.
I also can't find a sizing chart. My foot length is 24.5cm or 9 3/4 in (usually wear 7 US or 7.5 US, 37, 37.5) Please help.
